Thresholds represents the phenomenon of liminality. The disorientation occurs in the middle of a rite of passage. The dancers express a feeling of dissociation from the country of origin by painting a landscape of desolation and confinement inspired by the sentiment of not belonging, while also expressing a need for freedom and fulfillment.
The performance is accompanied by rhythmic music, including certain moments animated by pieces played live by a young instrumentalist present on the stage. The show opens with a solo performed by Haroun Ayari, the show's scriptwriter and choreographer, before two other dancers join him on stage.
Thresholds is an artistic piece that navigates the fragile, disorienting space between two states of being, between origin and destination, between what was and what could be.
