An exploration of liminality — the disorientation of the in-between. A landscape of desolation and confinement, and a deep need for freedom.
Thresholds represents the phenomenon of liminality. The disorientation occurs in the middle of a rite of passage. The dancers express a feeling of dissociation from the country of origin, painting a landscape of desolation and confinement inspired by the sentiment of not belonging, while also expressing a need for freedom and fulfillment.
The performance is accompanied by rhythmic music, including certain moments animated by pieces played live by a young instrumentalist present on stage. The show opens with a solo performed by Haroun Ayari, the show's scriptwriter and choreographer, and two other dancers join him throughout the piece.
